SUSTAINABLE REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT
From 2016 to 2021, Morgan Communications represented the Portland-based real estate development firm, project^ on various PR campaigns, the most prolific of which has been the Framework project, the tall timber building scheduled to be constructed in the Pearl district in Portland in 2018.
During the campaign period, we advised project^ on several communication aspects of the construction, funding, and permitting process for Framework including media outreach strategy, content development, crisis communications, and messaging. Responsibilities included managing press relations and partnering with the developer’s government relations adviser on press outreach. Since Framework was also partially publicly funded, Morgan Communications also liaised with public agency, Home Forward on communications strategies.
As a result of proactive outreach with Oregon press, national press, and architectural/design trade reporters, we secured several high-profile articles for the initiative (highlights below). We also managed crisis PR efforts and speaking opportunities for project^ partner and real estate developer, Anyeley Hallova*.
Morgan Communications represented project^ on several additional commercial and residential initiatives underscoring the sustainable, social, and economic benefits embraced by the developer. These include:
THE NATURE CONSERVANCY: We promoted the redevelopment of the organization’s Oregon headquarters in Portland – the environmentally progressive Oregon Conservation Center embraces an advanced sustainability design concept that prioritizes energy efficiency and conservation.
ORIGAMI: We developed communications materials and secured media coverage for a community of homes in Portland which achieved Earth Advantage Platinum certification.
MEYER MEMORIAL TRUST: We directed a media campaign and secured media coverage for Meyer’s newly constructed headquarters in the Albina district of Portland which has been recognized as Oregon’s first LEED v4 Platinum New Construction building, – the highest rating ever given for a new construction building in the U.S. The project – a $10.8 million, 19,829 sq. ft., three-story office building and garden – was largely led by women, a majority of whom are women of color, and 55% of the project’s construction budget was awarded to women and BIPOC-owned subcontractors.
